Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is a food additive used as a flavor enhancer. MSG is the sodium salt of glutamic acid, an amino acid found naturally in foods such as tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, and mushrooms. Our cooperative factory produces MSG through fermentation of sugar beet molasses and starch. MSG enhances the savory flavor of foods and is used in small amounts to season or enhance the flavor of many foods. It is added to processed meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, soups and snack foods. MSG provides a flavor that is described as savory, meaty or brothy.
